Big Oven Recipe Software
BigOven is a recipe software package that I actually use and really enjoy. It is a product that I am happy to endorse to other cooks, so I have posted some information about it here.
I’ve created many different “recipe boxes” in BigOven to organize my recipes, and have rearranged them several times. It’s easy to move things around as my needs change. The nutritional function has been very helpful and easy to use – you’d be surprised how much little changes can change the nutritional breakdown of a recipe!
I haven’t really used the grocery list function that much, but it would be super helpful when planning a big, complex menu.
Overall, I really like this software. I used to use MasterCook, but I find BigOven much more user friendly and intuitive to use. And, it has an active and accessible author if any problems crop up.
Feel free to contact me or post comments below if you have any questions about how this software has worked for me. I am happy to discuss it with y’all!

Award-Winning Recipe Software for Windows
If you’ve ever dreaded this question, you need BigOven for Windows.
BigOven makes it a breeze to quickly enter your favorite rotation of recipes, and it will help you discover many more delicious recipes you’ll want to try.
Use BigOven’s easy Find button to find the recipes you want. Then drag the ones you want from the list on the left to one of the task areas on the right (e.g., shopping list, meal planning).
For instance, to add a recipe’s ingredients to your grocery list, simply grab the recipe card and drop it onto the shopping list. That’s it!
You can easily get to your favorite recipes, your “Try Soon” recipes, or any recipe you want from this screen, and results are shown on the left. You can search across individual or multiple recipe box files. Recipes can be resized (multiplied) up or down quickly, or converted from English (US) to Metric and vice-versa. Much more!
Want to generate a quick shopping list from your favorite recipes? Simply click on the Shopping icon, then drag and drop recipes from the result list onto your shopping list. BigOven will create a convenient printed grocery list, sorted by department. You can easily uncheck the items you already have on-hand before the list is generated, or at any time.
When you’re ready to go grocery shopping, simply print it out, or publish it to your Palm or Windows Mobile device. Your grocery list is ordered by aisle… so no more back-tracking through the store! Our own tests have shown that this feature alone can save more than 15 minutes off the typical grocery run, which adds up!
You can also generate grocery lists by selecting a date range in the meal planner.
BigOven’s Meal Planner Saves You Time
Drag and drop recipes from the search results right onto the meal calendar. Add notes to any day. When you’re done, you can generate a shopping list from any date range, and print out your meal plan.
